The 25th edition of the Lonato Winter Cup was extremely intense for Team Gamoto.

The Sicilian team was present at the traditional event that opens the South Garda Karting racing season with three drivers, all in the Mini ROK class.

The Slovenian Aleksandr Bogunovic joined YuanPu Cui and Newman Chi.

Bogunovic came out in the long run, progressively improving until finishing 21st in the Final, gaining as many as 11 positions from his position on the starting grid.

Cui started the event in P9 in his qualifying group, while in the heats a second unfortunate battery relegated him to 29th position. A good Super Heat, however, saw him finish 12th with 3 positions recovered. In the Final, having started 27th, the Chinese driver recovered 5 squares to cross the finish line in 22nd. Chi, after a complicated qualification, put in a good series of heats, which saw him finish 27th overall. In Super Heat 1, Chi did well by finishing in P9. A final with no holds barred then saw him end the Winter Cup with 24th position.

Salvatore Gatto, Team Principal: “It was an extremely intense weekend, where our drivers were put to the test on more than one occasion. A few too many contacts moved us away from the final goal, but this is part of the game. Now we must immediately reorganize the ideas in view of the second round of the WSK Super Master Series, scheduled for the end of this week, always in Lonato.”

There will be 5 drivers representing the Gamoto team this weekend: # 505 – Oleksandr Bondarev, # 506 – YuanPu Cui, # 507 – Enea Frey, # 508 – Newman Chi, # 509 – Alessandro Minetto.
